Rolladeck Creation - Dan Boehmer

Hello, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dan Boehmer, President of Rolladeck Industries Inc. and the man responsible for the Rolladeck creation. I have spent my entire life in  and around the Auto Glass Industry. My father worked as a location  manager for Locust Glass co. in St. Louis back in the 1960’s before launching his own company Dellwood Glass Co. in 1975. I was just 3 years old when Dellwood opened. I spent many days as a young boy hanging  around the glass shop. Watching the technicians work, helping out with the occasional broken tempered back glass clean up. I was working with my older brother before I was even strong enough to pull a cold knife. Back then the urethane was hard and tools like Equalizer were not  available to us yet. I was Installing on my own by 14 in the shop after school and over the summers. In many ways it was harder back then because we did not have the equipment available to us that is on the  market today.

Needing a Alternative

Little was known about the effects of using one’s head to push out the windshield to cut the bottom bead. However, most all vehicles came with stops from the factory and cab forward body designs were not in production so there was little concern about being  able to properly set the windshield. I’ve learned to overcome many challenges with changes in the industry over the years, but the physical effects of this work such as muscle strains and lower back  injuries have taken a toll on me. I’ve tried other setting systems before, and found the time to implement their use slowed my production considerably and created more work. I’ve known that something needed to change in order for me to continue working in this industry. I needed to come up with a tool that was easy to set up, versatile, and cost effective.

An Idea Is Formed

One morning I woke up and it hit me. Design an apparatus that is easily attached to the wiper post and fully adjustable to create the “stop” needed to get the windshield placed. It didn’t occur to me at the time that it would be so effective that I would use it on almost every windshield not only as a setting aid, but also to aid in the removal process. I quickly discovered that the physical effects I have been dealing with over the years have diminished. My confidence level for setting the largest windshields that require pinpoint accuracy such as a Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey could not be higher. After almost 2 years, three prototypes, and countless successful Installations, we have not just a auto glass tool, but a new system that is easily learned and trained. A system that is simple and durable that if properly maintained should last a lifetime. These were the steps that led to the Rolladeck Creation.

Looking To the Future

I plan to continue working in the field as a Technician as long as I can. To continue working on new innovations that will help contribute to the quality of the work environment. To make it safer and easier to do our job as technicians. Thank you for your Interest in the Rolladeck Windshield Setting System. Safety, quality, and productivity. The choice of true professionals.
